Hitting the Jackpot

I talked about my passion for car shows in June, sharing the memories I made with my dad at the 500,000 square-foot Atlanta International Auto Show. Year after year, I was up close and personal with the hottest cars of the year. I traveled to the 2021 SEMA Show for work this year, but I made sure to scan rides on my way to industry interviews and booth visits. Take a look at my three favorite machines from the show.

1. Chip Foose’s Hemisfear

Chip Foose’s Hemisfear.

I grew up reading about Chip Foose’s imaginative designs in magazines and watched him on TV with my dad whenever I had the chance. My childhood was reignited when I made my way to North Hall with our video producer Chris Bunn. Above each ride hung a detailed sketch of the designs that were now injected with life. This experience was one of my “I made it” moments during the show.

2. The Porsche Taycan

The Porsche Taycan.

Legend Paint Protection Film and Avery Dennison had the new electric Porsche Taycan displayed at their respective booths. I’ve always been a fan of the Porsche brand, and this model blends retro with modern. It retains the classic Porsche look, but it’s nothing like the old days. The 2022 four-door features up to 616 horsepower and over 200 miles of environmentally-friendly range. It’s interesting to see eco-friendly cars adopt the recognizable looks of vehicles we know and love. The all-electric 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning is another example of this.

3. The 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

The new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.

This 495 horsepower, more-affordable-than-a-Ferrari beast is my dream car. Much like the Porsche Taycan, this V8 monster blends new and old, retaining the classic Corvette look while advancing simultaneously. Gatorwraps’ booth featured the ‘Vette in a Sebring Orange Tintcoat, and it drew me in. Who knows if I’ll ever own one, but it’s worth dreaming about, right?

Stay tuned for more coverage as I travel to Palmetto Protection Films in Myrtle Beach, S.C., this December and feel free to add me on Facebook. I look forward to connecting with you.
