The New Guy—Two Month Check In
Two months already? I might have to remove ‘new’ from the blog title if time keeps flying like it is. Now a newcomer of eight-weeks, I want to highlight my brief time in the industry by detailing a few of my industry takeaways.
• The industry’s resilience has stood out. As I covered last week, WFCT provided a glimpse into the industry’s grit and ability to push back against several crises. With ransomware attacks on the rise and COVID-19 refusing to let up, challenges lie ahead. But I have no doubt that this industry, as much as any other, is ready to adapt business operations and persevere through it all—I’ve seen it firsthand.
• The Window Film Pros Clubhouse has provided me with community, insight and story leads during my first two months on the job. Putting my ear to the industry and hearing its drivers discuss and share challenges, innovations and solutions has been eye-opening. I look forward to it each week.
• Attending and covering the International Window Film Conference and Tint Off™ (WFCT) just a month in was crucial to my development as an industry professional. After all, you can’t cover the industry without scanning its products and talking to its professionals in person. While my complete education is far from complete, it feels good to be an industry sophomore rather than a freshman.
