Variety Is the Spice of Life

There’s no point in denying that things have changed. No-one could have predicted what was going to happen in 2020, and let’s face it, if they did, we’d have quickly asked them to make a new prediction! We’re where we are and significant changes are constantly having to be made by businesses across the globe.

Of course, we are among them. The office is unrecognizable after reorganizing desks to ensure we meet social distancing requirements. Our teams are carrying out rigorous pre-installation checks before arriving on site, our installers are following strict protocols before, during and after each project. We’ve analyzed our spending and due to the uncertain economic environment, we’ve made cutbacks and reduced outgoings.

In short, it has been and continues to be difficult.

That said, I have recently spent time looking at images from all of the projects we’ve completed over the past few months, and it had a remarkably inspirational and quite cathartic effect. In looking at the range of work we’ve carried out, the first thing that struck me was that through resilience and organization, people and businesses are working hard to restore life to some sort of normality as quickly as possible. We’ve completed work in residential settings, in offices, on shopfronts, churches and a host of other types of buildings. Things are happening out there; people are coming together to make it work and we’re getting a first-hand glimpse of that every day. The sheer range of jobs we’re completing, with more coming in each day, is a real cause for optimism.

Another reason to be cautiously cheerful is just how nimble, creative and resilient our industry is. Here at The Window Film Company we’re constantly working towards making sure potential customers understand what can be done with the products our industry supplies and installs – which as we know, is a lot. Whether it’s solar control, safety and security, manifestation, privacy, printed graphics, branding, décor, display; the list is a long one, and it’s been really pleasing to see just how many of these options are being utilized by clients in the past few months.

Because of the time of year, we’re naturally seeing plenty of interest in solar control solutions, but printed graphics are also proving incredibly popular, with printing onto optically clear and frosted film a regular choice, with customers perhaps looking to give their premises a stylish new look after an enforced period of lockdown inactivity. Whatever the reasons, the fact is that the products we offer remain desirable and in demand – perhaps now more than ever. Within the industry, I see it as our responsibility to ensure that we continue to explore new ways to meet our customers ever changing requirements, to not shy away from offering a broad range of products and solutions, despite the difficult and uncertain environment.

I’m proud of what The Window Film Company manages to achieve, and am confident that by continuing to stay focused on providing the best possible products and the best possible customer service to each and every one of our varied clients, our industry will continue to thrive.
