National Window Film Day is Almost Here – Here’s What You Should KnowApril 29th, 2020 by Emmariah Holcomb
National Window Film Day (NWFD) is tomorrow and although window film businesses around the country have been engulfed in the COVID-19 crisis, it’s important to remember to showcase the benefits of window film to consumers.
The International Window Film Association (IWFA) previously stated NWFD is an opportunity for public education focused on window film as a protective shield that may reduce energy costs, protect the skin and home decor from the sun’s damaging UV rays and offer improved window safety. NWFD has been recognized each year on April 30th since 2014.
“We’re here to help and support you even if it’s your first time supporting or celebrating NWFD,” said Steve Capoccia, president of IWFA’s public relations agency, Special Public Communications.
But why was April 30th chosen? According to IWFA executive director, Darrell Smith, it gets everyone energized about the industry just before the summer hits. As many in the window film business managers know, industry shops are typically the busiest in the summer, as many of their customers want to be protected from the sun while the temperature outside increases.
“NWFD highlights the many benefits of window film and emphasizes how professionally installed window film is a good choice for the environment over replacing older windows entirely,” said Smith.
There’s still time to utilize guides and pamphlets, located on the association’s website, to help get ideas and support the industry. A few companies have advertised special promotions and discounts leading up to NWFD, as well as taking to social media platforms to aid in educating potential customers.
“Social media is a great way to promote NWFD, especially because everyone is so digital. This also gives you a chance to show off your shop and pride for the industry,” Capoccia said.
