Window Film Franchises Ranked in Annual Listing

Several window film-related companies have been ranked on Entrepreneur magazine’s 35th Annual Franchise 500®. The top 500 companies made the Franchise 500® ranking, based on financial and statistical data from July 2011 through July 2013.

First on the list was Budget Blinds, which ranked #55. The franchise, founded in 1992, is cited as having 876 locations in North America. Total investment for franchisees is $89,240 – $187,070 with a franchise fee of $14,950 and a renewable 10-year agreement. Financial requirements for liquid cash available ranges from $54,730 – $86,120. In 2013, the company ranked #177, and previously ranked #69 in 2012, #143 in 2011 and #77 in 2010. Services include blinds, shutters, shades, curtains and drapes, as well as window coverings, residential and commercial window film and decorative film.

Next on the list was Window Genie, which came in at #195. With 196 locations in the U.S., the 19-year-old franchise requires a total investment ranging $81,250 – $131,100. It also has a franchise fee of $32,000 – $57,000, an ongoing royalty fee of 7 percent and a renewable 10-year agreement term. Financial requirements include a net worth of $150,000 and $40,000 in Liquid Cash Available. In past years, the franchise ranked #190 (2013), #407 (2012), #499 (2011) and #485 (2010). Services include window cleaning; residential, commercial and decorative window tinting; pressure washing and gutter cleaning.

Ziebart also made the list at #344. Founded in 1959, the company now has 379 locations throughout the world. Total Investment required ranges $167,000 – $326,000 with a franchise fee of $25,000 and ongoing royalty fee of 5 percent/8 percent. The term of franchise agreement is 10 years, renewable. Financial requirements include a net worth of $250,000 and $100,000 in liquid cash available. Previously, the franchise ranked #297 in 2013, #153 in 2012, #288 in 2011 and #375 in 2010. Services include auto detailing, automotive window tinting and paint protection films, as well as spray-on bed liners, remote starters, automotive accessories and glass repair.

Only franchise companies that supply a full Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) or Canadian Disclosure Document and whose information is verified by Entrepreneur can receive a listing in this issue. To be eligible for the Franchise 500® ranking, a franchisor must have a minimum of 10 units, with at least one located in the U.S. The company must be seeking new franchisees in the U.S., and it cannot be in Chapter 11 at the time the ranking is compiled. (The exception to these rules is Canada-based companies that are expanding only in Canada.)
