The Environmental Protection Agency has amended the Energy Policy Act of 2005 to include window film. In order to quality for the tax credit, the products consumers choose must quality under Section 25C of the Internal Revenue Code, which can be viewed online at http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-drop/n-06-26.pdf.

An article in the March-April issue of WINDOW FILM on pages 14-15 includes a misprint on the basis of those tax credits. "There's a lot of misinformation about the tax credits out there," said editor Penny Stacey. "In fact, this misinformation was so plentiful that we even fell victim to it. Taxpayers can deduct the cost they paid for the film but not the labor. The IWFA has done a lot of work to bring the credit to fruition and can be a good source of accurate information."
