Davies Named Solutia Senior VP, CPFilms' President; Jeffry N. Quinn Named Chairman of the Board

Kent Davies has been hired as a senior vice president at Solutia Inc. and will serve as president of the company's subsidiary CPFilms Inc. In this role, Davies will report directly to Jeff Quinn, president and chief executive officer of Solutia. Davies replaces Ken Vickers, who has been named chairman emeritus, a role from which he will assist Davies with corporate strategy.

According to the company, this appointment and working relationship is indicative of the elevated role that CPFilms will play in the future of Solutia. CPFilms is a manufacturer of window films, which are used primarily by consumers to improve the solar control and security properties of the windows in their homes and automobiles.

"CPFilms is a critical growth engine for Solutia," said Quinn. "With Kent's proven track record for achieving profitable growth, I am confident he is the best person to take CPFilms to an even higher degree of success in the future."

CPFilms is the manufacturer of the Llumar® brand line of window film. The 42-year-old Davies was most recently vice president of marketing, research and development and regulatory affairs for United Industries Corp., a lawn and garden and household insect control company.

Additionally, Solutia Inc. announced its board of directors has named Jeffry N. Quinn as its chairman. Quinn also continues to serve as president and chief executive officer of Solutia.

The Company also announced that Paul H. Hatfield, previous chairman, will serve as lead director.
"This appointment is a well-earned recognition of Jeff Quinn's outstanding leadership and management over the nearly two years he has served as president and CEO of Solutia," said Hatfield, commenting on the changes.

Quinn joined Solutia in January 2003 and served as general counsel, chief restructuring officer and corporate secretary before becoming president and chief executive officer in May 2004. Prior to joining Solutia, Mr. Quinn held executive positions at Premcor Inc., and Arch Coal, Inc.

"Over the last two years it has been a privilege to work with our board of directors to reorganize and revitalize our company. I look forward to continuing those efforts in this additional role," Quinn commented.
