Solamatrix Acquires FTI Assets

Dust never had a chance to settle on Film Technologies International’s (FTI) old stomping grounds. While the company’s chief executive officer pointed to international pressures and warned that the industry may be facing consolidation (see article on page 16 of Window Film’s March-April 2008 issue), at least one company views the current as a good time to re-launch FTI’s old brand names under new ownership.

Novomatrix Pte Ltd. of Singapore acquired the defunct company’s property, plant, equipment, intellectual property and various other manufacturing assets through affiliated company Solamatrix Inc. Solamatrix will continue the Sun-Guard and Glass-Guard brand names.

Novamatrix, sole owner of Solamatrix, is a joint venture between Globamatrix Holdings (GMX) and Southern Capital Group headquartered in Singapore. The group is no stranger to the window film business, as it currently owns and operates a number of window film brand names, including: V-KOOL®, Huper Optik®, Nanolux® and IQue®. Manufacturing, however, is a new endeavor for the company.
