Konarka to enter Window Film Market

Konarka Technologies Inc., developer of Power Plastic®, a material that converts light to energy, recently revealed plans to commercialize its polymer-based organic photovoltaic (OPV) technology into building integrated applications, including a semi-transparent window film.

The company has appointed the former president and chief executive officer of GAF Materials Corp., William Collins, to its board of directors. Konarka says the global building materials veteran and will serve as an independent director on its board and will help guide its efforts to penetrate the building materials integration industry.

Collins has worked in multiple roles at Atlantic Richfield Co. (ARCO) and Berger Building Products. From 1992 to 2006, he held various positions at GAF Materials Corp.
