Frankel
Speaks at Times Square Meeting
Jordan Frankel, vice president of ShatterGARD Inc., recently spoke at
a special Times Square Security Association Meeting, where he says he
had the opportunity to promote the use of impact resistant film. The event
gathered representatives from Morgan Stanley, Fox News, the New York City
police department, Bear Stearns and American Stock Exchange.
Frankel says that following the events of September 11th, area corporations
began reassessed security measures and particularly windows. His company
began fielding calls almost immediately after the terrorist attacks and
numerous facility managers began requesting professional risk assessments
of their buildings.
"They were concerned about an act of terrorism where the lives of
workers and the hundreds of thousands of Times Square visitors would be
in danger of the flying glass, not to mention the property," Frankel
explains. "The assessment led to ShatterGARD's flagship product,
BlastGARD, being applied to the interior glass surface of some of the
most high profile buildings in and around New Your City."
As a result, he was later asked to speak at the event.
Frankel says BlastGARD was originally developed for the U.S. military
as a defense against bomb blasts, explosions and flying glass, but now
offers a solution to businesses looking to protect themselves from events
similar to September 11th.
"You can have the film installed during normal business hours,"
he explained in the meeting. "There is no smell, no toxic fumes and
no disruption to your employees and visitors."
As a matter of demonstration, he had an NYPD officer repeatedly strike
a treated window. "They all became believers," Frankel says.
"[I was] looking around the room at the amazed expressions of attendees."
