Film as Accomplice

It's an unfortunate fact that the words "illegal window tint" appear in a large number of police reports nationwide. Polling daily news reports from around the country will provide an exhausting number of incidents. Illegal tint is so closely associated with "suspicious vehicles," that officers frequently admit it is one of their number one tools for identifying potential criminals.

Here's a condensed list of what has surfaced in recent days:

Frederick, Md.-Deputies arrested a woman after her vehicle was stopped for a window tint violation and an investigation revealed suspected marijuana in the vehicle. She was charged with possession of marijuana and taken to a local adult detention center … Watertown, N.Y.- Kristopher R. Lancto was charged with failure to keep right and having excessive window tint on his vehicle after being stopped in the town of Edwards, state police said. He registered a 0.16 percent BAC … Naples, Fla.-In two separate but similar incidents, illegal tint turned up phony gift and credit cards. In the first incident, police stopped a 1994 pickup for illegal window tint, an inoperative plate light and failure to maintain a single lane, but they also smelled marijuana. That led to a vehicle search, during which deputies discovered more than ten fraudulent credit cards and gift cards. A traffic stop the following night for illegal tint led to an additional fraudulent card arrest. The driver's nervous behavior and a prior arrest for credit card fraud in Kentucky made the deputies ask to conduct a search. In his two wallets they found six fraudulent gift cards and credit cards. Additional cards were located in the center console and under the front visor.
