Dealer Turns to Blogging

We've all heard the terms "blogging," "blogger," and even "blogisphere" more and more in recent years. The term blog is actually a contraction of the words "web" and "log." It refers to a web page format frequently used by individuals to post their thoughts, ideas and content in a chronological format. When you visit one of these pages, a couple of things you're likely to notice is that they're typically very long, with the most recent "posts" at the top of the page and work backwards, chronologically, as you scroll down. The format resembles that of a diary, of sorts.

An Ohio-based dealer recently decided to employ the blog format as an outlet for his window film experience and thoughts.

"I decided to have a blog to help other dealers understand the window film industry the way I learned it, 14 yrs later," explains John Susnik of Sunray Window Films LLC in Independence, Ohio. "I have found that many, including myself, found my blog very helpful."

Susnik uses his blog to document and share experiences, including difficult situations, tips and tricks, and even promotional information. One post from this past August actually includes a coupon.

Some days Susnik chooses to simply post a few images or thoughts; other times, he includes entire stories regarding past experiences.

"As a window film dealer, you are expected to know what types of glass are being used," he posted one day. "To know the specifics of each potential customer's windows is very important! You the dealer have to follow certain criteria when deciding what to sell to the customer. The reason you must follow this criteria is because not all film/tint is safe for certain types of windows. By not following the correct film for the glass/window you can crack the glass," he advises.
